They are known for their classic hard rock/heavy metal sound in the vein of acts like Aerosmith, Van Halen and Cream. The members are Castronovo, Jay DeMarcus, Jason Scheff, Chris Rodriguez and Tom Yankton.
Castronovo had previously risen to fame through his work as a member of the well-known classic rock band Journey, with whom he still tours. He has also enjoyed working as a session musician for artists such as Steve Vai, Paul Rodgers and Ozzy Osbourne. In 2020 he had the idea to form a heavy metal supergroup made up of some of the genre’s most well-known artists, and Generation Radio was born. Castronovo serves as the group’s drummer, and shares lead singing duties with Jay DeMarcus. DeMarcus is primarily known for his work with the country-rock group Rascal Flatts, with whom he earned two Grammy Awards. Joining Castronovo and DeMarcus in the lineup is Jason Scheff of Chicago fame as well as Chris Rodriguez, a well-known singer-songwriter in Christian music circles.
