Founded in 2000, Flatfoot 56 uses traditional Scottish Highland bagpipes to solidify their classification as a Celtic punk band. Over the years the band has seen various different members but was established by frontman Tobin Bawinkel and his brothers Justin and Kyle. While Justin is no longer a part of Flatfoot 56, Tobin and Kyle have been writing and producing music for the band since the beginning. Flatfoot 56’s sound employs a diverse variety of instrumentations including bagpipes, guitar, mandolin, keys, vocals, and drums.
Their first album, Rumble of 56, was recorded in the summer of 2002 and was met with great success that has grown to this day. The band has regularly toured throughout the United States and can often be found performing at festivals such as Warped Tour, Sonshine Festival, Skanksgiving, and many more. Among their success, Flatfoot 56 is also known for performing WWE star Johnny Curtis’ theme, “I Told You So” as well as Irish WWE wrestler Sheamus’ theme, “Written In My Face.” Each of their songs features the excitement and canter of traditional Celtic music with the combination of punk that fans have come to love.
