After a performance in the mid 70s at Lincoln Park Theater, St. Holmes was contacted by Ted Nugent’s manager. He was invited to tour and record with Nugent and contributed heavily to Nugent’s eponymous debut album in 1975. St. Holmes served as lead vocalist on some of the album’s greatest hits including “Stranglehold” and “Hey Baby.” He helped record the late 70s albums Cat Scratch Fever and Double Live Gonzo! before parting ways with Nugent in 1979.
In 1981 St. Holmes formed the Whitford/St. Holmes band with Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, releasing their self-titled debut album later that year.
