The two had been part of different bands but had never played together and so formed a group, collaborating together to feature a more acoustic sound with nylon strings.
They soon were joined by Alex Ruiz and others, including bassist Albert Besteiro as well as percussionist Cecilio Ruiz III along with drummer Mike Zeoli. The band performed around Austin, with comparisons made to Flamenco oriented groups such as the Gipsy Kings and Strunz and Farah as well as more mainstream acts such as Santana

The group’s sophomore release, Vida, came out in 2002. The group began to gather attention. The group was asked to have a cut on the soundtrack of the major motion picture Once Upon a Time in Mexico, directed by Robert Rodriguez. The band also won seven awards at the Austin Music Festival, including Best Austin Band of the Year.
The group recorded three more albums before announcing a break in 2012. The band has since started performing and recording again.
