Navarro met longtime collaborator David Lowen in Los Angeles in 1980. The pair first rose to fame with the song “We Belong,” which they wrote for Pat Benatar and which became a nationwide hit in 1984. In 1987, the duo began performing on their own, and in the early 90s released a string of critically successful albums, most notably Purpose and Learning To Fall. Lowen & Navarro disbanded in the late 2000s following Lowen’s diagnosis of Lou Gehrig’s disease. Nevertheless, the pair remain seen as one of the most sophisticated songwriting duos of the 70s and 80s.

Navarro has also enjoyed a successful career as a voice actor, contributing his talents to shows like American Dad!, films like Talladega Nights and video games like Red Dead Redemption 2.
