The musical duo Dala was formed by Sheila Carabine and Amanda Walther, who first met at high school band practice at Mary Ward Secondary School in Scarborough, a suburb of Toronto, Ontario. The two formed the musical duo Dala in the summer of 2002.
The two signed a 5 year developmental deal with the label Big Bold Sun Music on December 12, 2003. Their first album, This Moment is a Flash, was released on April 3, 2005. They signed a major record deal with Universal Music on August 8 of that year. In November, of 2005 they released their first album, Angels & Thieves, under their new label and did a support tour of the album.
Enjoy award-winning vocals and music with Dala tickets. The duo’s second album, Who Do You Think You Are, was released in 2007 and its lead single “Anywhere Under the Moon” was played on the satellite network M3’s MuchMoreMusic rotation. The group has toured frequently.
Dala has released five studio albums and one live album, Girls from the North Country, released in 2010. They have been nominated for numerous Canadian Folk Music Awards, winning two including Vocal Group of the Year in 2010. They also have won a Toronto Independent Music Award and were nominated for a Juno award in 2011.
