Following the show, she signed with Jive Records and released her debut album 'Farmer's Daughter' in 2010. The album reached number two in the US Rock Charts, and its title track was also released as a single in the same year.
At around this time, Bowersox was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and she has campaigned to raise awareness of the condition ever since. In 2012, she moved to Shanachie Records and released the EP 'Once Upon a Time' which consisted of tracks that had been written before she appeared on 'American Idol'. This was followed in 2013 by a second album 'All That for This' in 2013 and a second EP 'Promises' in 2014. Her third album 'Alive' was released in 2017 and was followed by a tour during which she performed in several different American states.
