V.’s first group was the quartet Mista. He then signed with the label imprint Disturbing the Peace, a subsidiary of Def Jam Recordings run by Ludacris in 2005.
Growing up in Mississippi, and later Atlanta, Georgia, Wilson was inspired to become an R&B artist by acts such as Tony! Tone! Toni!, Marvin Gaye, The Isley Brothers and Michael Jackson. In 1996, as Bobby Wilson, he became part of the R&B ensemble Mista. The group’s debut record, entitled Mista, which produced the single “Blackberry Molasses.” The group split in 1997.
Listen to some great music with Bobby V. tickets. V.’s first solo album, entitled Bobby Valentino, was released in 2005 and was certified gold. The single “Slow Down” from the album rose to Top Ten on the Billboard charts. Two more singles were released from that album.
In 2007, his second album Special Occasion was released but had little traction. In 2008, he produced the album Come with Me, featuring the single “Another Life,” along with V. singing with EMI with his imprint Blu Kolla Dreams. He continues to put out new albums.
