When the Appalachian League was restructured in 2021, the Grays became a collegiate summer team under the name Bluefield Ridge Runners. The revamped team takes its name from a reference to Bluefield’s heritage in the railroad industry. The Ridge Runners’ home field, Bowen Field, lies adjacent to Bluefield’s historical Ridge Runner passenger train. The team is owned by the Bluefield Baseball Club organization, and they are led by managers Joe Oliver and Rocky Malamisura.
