The band came together in Philadelphia in 2013, with the original lineup including Dan Metzker of The Danger O’s and Spencer Dorsey of No Summer. They released their first EP Who Would Ever Want Anything So Broken? through Dead Broke Records in 2014. After recruiting Ruben Gallego as lead guitarist, Beach Slang released their debut full-length album The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us the following year.
Despite rumors of a breakup following a rough show in Salt Lake City, Beach Slang released their sophomore album A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings in 2016. Ensuing lineup changes saw the band recruit Cully Symington of Cursive and Aurore Ounjian of Mean Creek. In 2019 Beach Slang released 2019, The Deadbeat Bang of Heartbreak City 2019, which found success through its lead single “Bam Rang Rang.” Many of the members of Beach Slang have also enjoyed successful side projects in The Pauses, Dashboard Confessional and Skeleton Key.
