Alpine Symphony Concert Tickets

Experience one of the masterpieces of classical music with Alpine Symphony tickets. Alpine Symphony is a tone poem written by the famed German composer Richard Strauss in 1915. The largest of Strauss’ pieces outside of his operas, Alpine Symphony involves over 100 musicians and lasts for nearly an hour. The work expresses the experience of spending a day climbing a mountain in the Alps.

Strauss began writing the Alpine Symphony in 1911, though the piece underwent extensive revisions due to the composer’s tendency toward perfectionism. Strauss had gotten lost with a group of climbers in the Alps as a boy, an experience which, combined with his love of nature, provided inspiration for the monumental work. The death of the composer’s friend and contemporary Gustav Mahler motivated Strauss to finally finish his Alpine Symphony in 1915.

The premiere of the symphony was conducted by Strauss himself at the Dresden Hofkapelle in Berlin. Though initially met with mixed reviews, the composer was pleased with the finished product, and the Alpine Symphony went on to enjoy particular popularity in the United States. The piece has since enjoyed landmark productions by the London Philharmonic, Warsaw Philharmonic and Singapore Symphony Orchestras. Buy Alpine Symphony tickets today.
