NFL Game Tickets

Be there for the opening kickoff of a new season of football with NFL tickets from TicketSmarter! The NFL started in 1920 and was originally known as the American Professional Football Association. The name was changed to the National Football League in 1922. The league initially awarded the championship to the team at the top of the regular season standings before implementing the NFL Playoffs and the NFL Championship game in 1966. The NFL began a merger with the American Football League in 1967, which brought about the Super Bowl game which would pit teams from both leagues in an AFL-NFL World Championship Game. The merger was finalized in time for the 1970 season, forming one league under the NFL with teams split up into the National Football Conference and American Football Conference.

Today, the NFL is made up of 32 teams that play a 17-week regular season. NFL football is the most popular sport in the United States and leads the world in average attendance for sporting events. Each year, dedicated fans buy thousands of NFL tickets and pack into stadiums during the fall and winter months to see their favorite players, coaches and teams work towards attaining a Super Bowl title for their franchise. Several dynasties have become part of NFL lore with multiple Super Bowl championships for teams like the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. TicketSmarter will have a great selection of seats for every game on the schedule including the Super Bowl, playoff matchups and regular-season competition.

NFL Ticket Prices

As the most popular sport in the United States, NFL games are frequently filled to capacity. Tickets are in extremely high demand for each game of the season which will affect the ticket prices, especially as the season progresses towards the NFL Playoffs. Some factors that will affect NFL ticket prices include the popularity of the two teams playing, the win-loss record of each team, the number of games left in the season, stadium capacity and the seating location inside the stadium.

How much are NFL tickets?

The average price a fan will pay to attend an NFL game is between $150 and $200 depending on the team. More successful teams will draw higher prices than the least successful teams. The teams with the most expensive average ticket prices in the league are the New England Patriots, Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. The teams with the cheapest average ticket prices in the league are the Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The stadium and seating location will also be one of the biggest factors when looking at ticket prices. Newer stadiums will have more amenities and all-inclusive options which can raise the price you will pay. Lower level seats on the 50-yard line will always be more expensive than seats in the upper levels. For the cheapest ticket options, fans should look in the upper levels behind an end zone or in the corner of an end zone.

NFL Dates & Schedule

The NFL schedule spans from the month of August through February with preseason, regular season and postseason action. The preseason begins in August and features four exhibition games that allow coaches and management to get a good look at potential members of the roster and make cuts prior to the regular season. The regular season will kick off in September and will see every team play a 16-game schedule over 17 weeks. At the end of the season, the eight-division champions and two wild cards from each conference will qualify for the NFL Playoffs.

The NFL Playoffs is a single-elimination tournament with games played on Saturday and Sundays. It all starts with the Wild Card Round on the first weekend of January and progresses into the Divisional Round and then the Conference Championships. The two conference champions will then enter the Super Bowl in February. The NFL Pro Bowl takes place the week before the Super Bowl. The Pro Bowl is an all-star game featuring the best teams from each conference playing an exhibition game.

TicketSmarter will have NFL tickets available for all preseason, regular season and postseason matchups. You will also be able to find Super Bowl tickets and Pro Bowl tickets on the TicketSmarter website and app!

When do NFL tickets go on sale?

National Football League tickets will become available after the schedule announcement in May. The NFL schedule announcement will include all of the preseason and regular season matchups along with game dates and start times. TicketSmarter will have season tickets and individual game tickets on sale within a day or two of the schedule announcement.
