Young was born in 1975 in Sacramento and developed a passion for theatre as a high schooler. He graduated from Brown University before moving to New York City in the hopes of becoming an actor. Young enjoyed a number of roles in off-Broadway productions and won the Star-Ledger’s award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his work on the stage adaptation of The Chosen.
Young’s big break came in 2005 when he earned the lead role in Broadway’s Jersey Boys, a role he performed for many years. His tenure on the show saw him become the only person to receive a Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Award for Lead Actor in a Musical while making a Broadway debut.
