They are best known for their high tempo dance music and have released hit singles like “Cali Aji,” “Del Puente Pa’lla” and “Etnia.” The group has recorded over 25 albums since its start in 1978.
Members Jairo Valera and Alexis Lozano founded the group in Cali, Colombia. Other members included Cristancho “Maccabi,” Francisco Garcia “Porky,” Luis Pacheco and Jorge Bazan, Members rotated through the years with the addition of members, while others left. Their first album, Al Pasito, was released in 1979. They drew the attention of mainstream Latin America after the release of their second album titled Querer Es Poder, which had the single “Buenaventura y Caney.” In 1984, the group released No Hay Quinto Malo. The album had one of their biggest hits yet with the single “Cali Pachanguero.” Other notable albums include Triunfo, Con Cuerdas and Historia Musical.
