Listen to classic blues mixed with modern influences with G. Love tickets. The guitarist, singer and harmonica player Garrett Dutton, better known by the stage name G. Love, was the frontman of the band G. Love and Special Sauce. He also has played other bands such as Slightly Stoopid, King Kane, The Expendables and Teo Leyasmayer.

Dutton was born on October 3, 1972, in Philadelphia, Penn. He received a guitar at the age of eight and had composed his first tune by the time he was in ninth grade. Dutton busked on the streets of Philadelphia and attended one year of college at Skidmore College before moving to Boston, playing at any opportunity he could find.

Dutton met producer Tom DeMille and the two began to collaborate, creating a blended sound of classic blues with contemporary music influences, such as a Dobro guitar played over a hip hop rhythm and a synthesizer background. Early examples of this new sound were Dutton versions of “Yea It’s That Easy” and “This Ain’t Living.”

Dutton began playing as part of a trio as the house band at the Plough and Stars in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This trio, composed of Dutton, who was using the stage name G. Love by now, Jeffrey Clemens, who went by “The Houseman” and played drums as well as bass player Jim Prescott, who had the handle “Jimi Jazz” became G. Love and Special Sauce. Dutton has recorded three studio albums as a soloist, along with some bootlegs and demo albums.
