Born in 1983 in Hempstead, Younger began learning to play the harp as a teenager with Karen Strauss. As a young woman, she earned degrees in harp performance and music business from the University of Hartford before earning an advanced degree from New York University. Shortly after graduation, Younger began working professionally with jazz saxophonist Ravi Coltrane.

In the years since, the harpist has led her own ensemble, performed frequently as a soloist and served as a session musician for well-known figures like Lauryn Hill, John Legend and The Roots. She is a longtime collaborator with Ravi Coltrane, who was featured on her 2019 album Soul Awakening. Since 2018 she has also toured regularly with drummer and producer Makaya McCraven.
