Pearl’s biological father was a drummer in Joplin’s Full Tilt Boogie Band. She’s also the stepdaughter of Marvin Lee Aday, better known by the stage name, Meat Loaf. Pearl got her start in the music industry by providing backing vocals on her stepfather’s 1994 “Bat Out Of Hell II” summer tour. From 1998 to 2003, she was welcomed into the fold as a singer in Meat Loaf’s touring band, Neverland Express.
Pearl’s experience in her father’s band led to opportunities with other bands. The rock band Filter featured her on one of their albums. Pearl served as a backup singer for Motley Crue on their Maximum Rock tour. She’s married to former Anthrax guitarist, Scott Ian.
Her husband Scott was a founding member of her band when it started in 2008. Jim Wilson, the former bassist for Daniel Lanois and Emmylou Harris, joins Pearl on bass. The first Pearl tickets could be found when the band opened for Meat Loaf on their Casa de Carne Tour in 2008. Little Immaculate White Fox, Pearl’s debut album, was released in January 2010. It features the autobiographical song “Rock Child,” which depicts scenes from Pearl’s upbringing. The song contains lines about Pearl’s napping in her father’s guitar case during recording sessions. The album was well-received with critics noting Pearl’s powerful vocals. While much of her stepfather’s music could be considered operatic rock, Pearl employs a more traditional rock style.
