Biloxi Blues earned rave reviews from critics, in particular for striking a delicate balance between comedy and thoughtful commentary. The play would go on to win a number of awards including the Tony Awards for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play, Best Direction of a Play and Best Play. In 1988, Biloxi Blues was adapted into a feature film, with Broderick reprising the role of Eugene.
