In 1995 Kim's notability took a turn for the better when he met Barenaked Ladies' frontman Ed Robertson who explained to Kim that he was a big fan of his music. Almost a decade later, with Kim happily settling into retirement, Robertson approached him with a co-writing gig and the two produced I Forgot To Mention. Canadian Music Week awarded Kim with the Indie Award for Favourite Solo Artist in 2005, a boost that enabled him to co-write Whatever Happened To Christmas with Ron Sexsmith. 2009 saw Kim's induction into the Hit Parade Hall Of Fame, and in 2010 he released his first album in more than 20 years, Happen Again.
