After recording tracks for a new album, the band decided to take a break, which ended up lasting until 2013 when they launched a competition in partnership with book publisher House of Anansi to get authors to write short stories based on the tracks from 'You Forgot It in People'. They chose 13 winners, one for each track on the album, and published the stories in an anthology book. After renewing people's perception of them through the competition, Broken Social Scene started touring the festival circuit in 2015 and released a brand new single in 2017 called 'Halfway Home'.
