The following year, he began recording his fourth album and welcomed guitarist Steve Lacy, drummer Steve Arrington, Childish Gambino and rappers Ty Dolla Sign and Lil B. to his sessions. Produced by Steven Ellison alias Flying Lotus, the melancholy It Is What It Is (2020).
