The Urge was originally formed in 1987 by Jeff Herschel, Karl Grable, and Pat Malecek. Then, Steve Ewing joined the bunch after going through to singers prior. Their first breakup was in 2002 when Steve Ewin went onto a solo career but then got back together shortly after. Then, again, taking a break in 2005, which lasted for six-year. They regrouped in 2011 and have been touring ever since. In 2018 they partnered with the St. Louis Blues to create their new goal song titled "The Blues Have the Urge."
