UMBC has spawned its fair share of NBA draft picks, such as Ricky Moreland of the Washington Bullets in 1983 and John Goedeke of the Atlanta Hawks in 1979.

From the season-opening Champions Classic to March Madness, the college basketball season is always full of exciting games. Teams open their seasons in November with non-conference contests and tournaments. The Maui Invitational and Gulf Coast Showcase are two of the top early-season tournaments. The season moves into conference play in December and January before conference tournaments take place in early March. The WNIT, NIT and NCAA Tournaments will take place in March and April.
