In their debut, the orchestra performed three concerts supported and subsidized by local banks and subscribers. Later, as musicians began to be paid, the Venice Symphony began to charge for attendance.
In 1983, Ernesto Epistola became the conductor, followed in 1989 by Wesley John Schumacher. Schumacher began to perform outreach and education for the Symphony, teaching third graders at area schools with the “Symphony In the Schools” program, which continues to this day. Students that participate in the program get to see a live event as part of the program.
