Wadley was a former musician and had been part of a touring band and desired a venue that centered on music concerts and recruited radio and promotion veteran, Carter McMillian, to help. The Music Farm quickly garnished a reputation in the Southeast as a premier spot to hear good music. Major acts that have performed in the venue in the early years include Phish in 1991, Widespread Panic in 1992, the Dave Matthews Band in 1993 and the Offspring in 1994.

The venue was bought again in 2007, this time by John Ellison and Marshall Lowe. The two have made multiple renovations to the facility, such as a new sound and lighting system, expanding the balcony and redoing the bathrooms. The renovation took a month and the club reopened on October 28, 2007.
