Formed in 2004 in Piedmont, California, by 9-year-olds Cole Becker and Joey Armstrong, SWMRS, formerly known as Emily's Army, plays punk rock, pop-punk and surf punk. The band consists of Cole Becker, lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Max Becker, lead vocals and lead guitar, drummer Joey Armstrong (the son of Billie Joe Armstrong, lead singer and lead guitarist of Green Day) and Seb Mueller on bass guitar. During tours, they are sometimes joined onstage by Henry Webb-Jenkins on guitar, keyboards and vocals, and Jakob Danger Armstrong, Joey’s brother, who plays bass and keyboards.
SWMRS has recorded multiple EPs and full-length LPs, with their debut album in 2011, titled Don’t Be a Dick. It was after releasing the album, Berkeley's on Fire, in 2019 SWMRS was nominated for 'Best International Newcomer at the UK’s annual Kerrang! Awards, ultimately going on to win the award. They have toured in the United States and the UK, and have played at festivals including the Soundwave Festival in Australia.
