Gardner joined Vixen in 1983, eventually relocating to Los Angeles and signing with EMI’s Manhattan Records. She had a number of hits with the group including “Edge of a Broken Heart” and released albums including 1990’s Rev It Up and 1998’s Tangerine. After the groups disbanding and reunions, she appeared in updated lineups on and off before leaving officially in 2019 to focus on her solo career. She released her self-titled debut solo album in 2017, wholly recording and producing the album with her husband Justin James. In 2019 she released her second solo effort, Your Place In the Sun, featuring “A Way to Your Heart” and “Flame Thrower” and more powerful rock tracks.
