Martinez and Ortiz had known each other as teenagers and began making reggaeton music together in 2000 along with friends and fellow musicians Wisin & Yandel. In 2005 Alexis & Fido released their debut album The Pitbulls, which was a number one hit on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart and a number two hit on the Top Heatseekers chart. The albums would later be certified gold.
Alexis & Fido’s single “Eso Ehh!” further increased their exposure, entering the top ten on Billboard’s Hot Latin Singles chart and seeing widespread use on television on popular programs like Entourage and The Wire. The duo has since collaborated with a string of high-profile artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Omarion and Bad Bunny. In 2006, Alexis & Fido founded the Wild Dogz Music record label.
