It was named after Darryl and Lori Schroeder to honor their substantial donation to the baseball program. In 2013, the field did a major renovation to help attract and recruit new talent to the team such as changing out the field from natural grass to FieldTurf, along with a new clubhouse and player development center. It also received a new electronic video board in 2015, which became the largest scoreboard in college baseball.
